Finnish folklore tells of trolls, elves, sprites and earth spirits living in the forests of Koli. In this guided session, small teams bring these forest folk to life, or invent creatures of their own, from ready-made blocks of packed snow. At the end, we walk around to admire the work, hear the story behind each sculpture and take photos to remember them by.

An old sage of Koli is about to set off on a long journey, but his magical powers have been scattered across the forests of Koli. Now he needs your help to gather them back together.

The Sage's Trail is a story-based outdoor challenge where the group divides into smaller teams and follows a trail of different tasks. Along the way, the teams face challenges that put their observation skills, teamwork, creativity and ingenuity to the test.

The journey calls for cooperation, clever thinking and looking at things from a new perspective – but no particular level of fitness or previous experience is required.

The Sage's Trail is available on request during the snow-free season for groups of  4–40 people. The programme takes around two hours and is particularly well suited to workplace teams, recreation days and other groups looking for something fun to do together.

Not everything needs to be found under one roof. Koli Runon programs can be combined with the services of other businesses in the Koli area to create a suitable package for your group.

The day can include, for example, meals or coffee breaks, campfire coffee in nature, sauna, Metsämieli excursions, cycling, or guided tours on Koli's trails. In late summer and autumn, mushroom excursions can also be included.

Unleash your imagination in the nature of Koli! In a guided land art workshop, we will draw inspiration from the stories of Koli's plants, animals, and mythical beings, creating our forest creatures from materials found in nature.

Sticks, twigs, leaves, stones, and other treasures of the forest gain a new form in the works created in small groups. Inspirations come from Koli's many creatures with funny names and the nature spirits known to the old folk.

The finished works remain in the forest, where wind, rain, and seasons will change them in time. The workshop combines moving in nature, imagination, and doing together.

The land art workshop can be conducted outside the national park, either in the customer's own forest or in a nearby forest of Koli Runon, which is only a short walk away.

On a bus trip from Joensuu to Koli or in the Pielinen landscapes, you can get to know the area with a local guide. Along the way, you will learn about the area's nature and forests, history, local life, and stories - what is visible from the window and what lies behind the landscape.

The guidance is planned according to the group's route and interests, and short walks and stops can also be included in the trip.
